ACPS is offering two summer opportunities to get to know Project GLAD® if you are new to the model or if you are a practitioner wanting to refine your GLAD® practice.

ACPS is hosting its 3rd Annual Project GLAD® Summer Institute this August. Join us for a day of learning, collaborating, and fun all with Project GLAD®. There will be a variety of sessions offered so that you can choose what sounds right for you. Do you want to learn about how to create a sentence pattern chart online or see how Preschool GLAD strategies can support early literacy development? Maybe you want to participate in a discussion on how Project GLAD® and AVID have similar goals or plan lessons using GLAD® strategies with a trainer there to coach you along the way? There will be something for everyone at the Project GLAD® Summer Institute.
Project GLAD® incorporates strategies that align with best practices for English Learners (ELs). These strategies support teachers in how to scaffold the grade level curriculum for all students.
Two Options for GLAD Foundations Training This Summer
The OCDE Project GLAD® Foundations training consists of a 2-day Research and Theory workshop and a 4-day classroom Demonstration where teachers see all the GLAD® strategies in action with students. Project GLAD® strategies are broken down into the 6 component areas of Focus and Motivation, Input, Guided Oral Practice, Reading and Writing, Extended Activities and Assessment and Feedback. This research-based model is focused on providing ways for students to access grade-level academic content and language while engaging in a positive classroom environment where they are encouraged to take risks. That’s where the learning happens.
This year we are offering two opportunities for new to GLAD teachers to participate in the Two Day Research and Theory Workshop Online:
