2021 Commencement Video

The recording of the 2021 T.C. Williams Commencement is being captioned and will be posted upon completion.

Graduation

• Saturday, June 12, 2021, Chinquapin Park, 3210 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22302 (Find on Google Maps)
• Processional will start at 9:15 a.m.; masks required
• Tickets: two (2) per graduate; tickets will be distributed on Friday, June 11. Guests must bring tickets to the ceremony to be admitted.
• We will only have enough seating for two guests per graduate. Any guests who arrive without a ticket will not be admitted.
• Prohibited Items: Coolers, alcohol beverages, noisemakers, air horns, projectiles, Frisbees, fireworks, weapons, drugs, large signs, balloons, silly string, flags, non-service animals.
• Individual Pictures: Lifetouch Studios will be taking individual pictures. Info will be available at graduation.

Viewing the Commencement Remotely

• The graduation ceremony can be watched live on Channel 71 or through livestreaming.

Students Should Check Canvas Messages

• All Class of 2021 Titans should check their Canvas and Naviance messages and respond to two important messages.
• Students should record their name pronunciation using the Name Coach software sent in messages to students. We are working hard to make sure every name is pronounced correctly.
• Students should also respond to the graduation RSVP so we can account for who plans to attend graduation and if any guests require special accommodations.

Morning of Graduation

• Students must arrive at school, Doors #35/36, by 7:30 a.m. Students must bring caps and gowns with them.
• Drop-off strongly suggested to minimize parking issues.
• Students must complete the Daily Symptom Checklist (It is encouraged that graduates complete this prior to their arrival) and will then be temperature screened. To maximize parking, we ask that our students arrange transportation that will not take up parking space if possible (e.g., drop-off, walking, public transportation, ride-share).

Cell Phones

• All Titan graduates must leave their cell phones at home or with their two guests. Phones will not be allowed in the student section.
• Students will be checked for phones when they enter the building for check-in on June 12. If students arrive with a cell phone, it will be held by staff until the end of the ceremony and can be picked-up near diploma distribution tents after the ceremony.
• Students will take the Daily Symptom Checklist on paper when they arrive on graduation morning.
• The two guests of the graduates may have cell phones in the guest section behind the students.

Seating Arrangement

• The students will be seated in alphabetical order in rows in front of the stage.
• Guests will be seated behind the student section in pairs and will be seated as they arrive.

Diploma Distribution

• All deficiencies must be cleared in order to receive a diploma. Contact the school treasurer at richelda.tirado@acps.k12.va.us to make arrangements to clear a deficiency.
• The collection of materials and equipment will be on June 3, 4, 7, 8 in the auditorium from 12 to 4 p.m. All materials (Chromebooks, cameras, instruments, calculators) and textbooks must be returned in order to receive a diploma. Enter door #34 to be screened and follow the signs to the stage in the auditorium.
• Students will receive a diploma cover and be photographed during the graduation ceremony. Information about ordering graduation photos will be available.
• Following the ceremony, students will be directed to distribution stations to receive their diploma from their school counselor.
• After June 12, contact marianne.hawn@acps.k12.va.us to arrange to receive your diploma (after any deficiencies have been cleared).

Following Graduation

• Diplomas will be distributed by school counselors immediately after the ceremony.
• Deficiencies must be paid to pick up your diploma.

Parking

• In the TCW garage and bus loop, with limited spots in two Chinquapin lots and around the Chinquapin Circle for those with parking permits and accessible parking spaces.
• Shuttles will run from Minnie Howard Campus and the First Baptist Church on 2932 King St. These parking areas are easy to exit from when the ceremony is over.
• Parking will be available on-site in the King Street Campus garage and also on the outer loop of Chinquapin Circle.
• The Chinquapin Circle parking will be closed at 8:15 a.m. once shuttle buses start arriving from off-site parking lots.

Guest Arrival

• Guests will be seated from 8 to 9 a.m.
• The student processional will begin at 9:15 a.m. After this, no guests will be able to enter the seating area until after the students have been seated.
• Guests will be seated in pairs on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Upon arrival, guests will have to answer four COVID-19 symptom questions before being admitted.

Prohibited Items and Guest Expectations

• Guests are expected to remain seated for the entire duration of the ceremony unless leaving for a restroom break.
• Guests may not leave seats to get better camera angles. We will have professional photographers and the ceremony will also be recorded and uploaded to the ACPS website.
• Guests and students may not bring any of the following: coolers, alcohol, noisemakers, air horns, projectiles, Frisbees, fireworks, weapons, illicit drugs, large signs, balloons, silly string, flags, non-service animals.

Cell Phones

• Guests are asked to keep their phones on airplane mode so streaming signals will not be disturbed.

Pre-Graduation Activities, June 11, 2021

• 9:30 a.m. — 12 p.m. Graduation Rehearsal; Yearbook/ Cord/Graduation Ticket Distribution (Station Rotation)
• 12:15 p.m. March of the Titans: Final Graduation March through TCW
• 1 p.m. Senior Treats

Masks

• Students, staff, and guests will be required to wear masks at all times.
• Please be sure to bring your masks with you. We will have a limited number of masks for anyone in need.

Be Prepared!

• Students and guests should be prepared for any sort of weather events that happen in June, which can be unpredictable.
• You may want to have a poncho on-hand in case an unexpected drizzle/rain starts.
• You may also want to bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat just in case it is overly warm.

Inclement Weather Information

• If we experience inclement weather on the morning of June 12, we will have a rain delay start time at 3:30 p.m.
• Please be prepared for the ceremony to proceed unless we face conditions of thunder and lightning.
• Any emergency communication regarding a delay will be communicated through Canvas and the ACPS website.
• In the event of inclement weather the entire day of June 12, we will reschedule a makeup ceremony for diploma distribution in July.

Senior Prom

• Due to conditions related to the COVID-19 pandemic and adhering to social distancing protocol, we are not scheduling a 2021 prom.

Deficiencies

• All deficiencies must be paid using cash, money orders, or MySchoolBucks online payments before picking up your diploma.
• Payments will be accepted in the King Street treasurer’s office: daily, 9-11 a.m., 1-4 p.m.; or by mail, until noon, June 11, 2021

• እንግዶች፣ ከተማሪዎች በስተጀርባ በጥንድ-በጥንድ በሆነ አቀማመጥ፤ እንደየ-አመጣጣቸው ቅደም ተከተል ይቀመጣሉ።

ዲፕሎማ ማከፋፈል

• ዲፕሎማችሁን ለመቀበል እንድትችሉ፤ ሳይከፈሉ-የቀሩ ክፍያዎች (Deficiencies) መከፈል አለባቸው። ሳይከፈል-የቀረ ክፍያን (deficiency) የመክፈል ዝግጅቶችን ለማድረግ፣ የትምህርት ቤቱን ገንዘብ-ያዥ (treasurer) በrichelda.tirado@acps.k12.va.us አነጋግሩ።

• በ‘TCW’ ጋራዥ ውስጥ እና በአውቶቡስ ማዞሪያው ውስጥ፤ በሁለት የ‘Chinquapin lots’ ውስጥ እና በ‘Chinquapin Circle’ ዙሪያ፤ የማቆሚያ ፈቃድ ያላቸው እና የመኪና ማቆሚያ-ለተሰጣቸው (accessible parking) ዉሱን-የሆኑ ማቆሚያዎች ይኖራሉ።

• የፊት-መሸፈኛ ማስኮቻችሁ (masks)ን፣ ይዛችሁ መምጣታችሁን እርግጠኛ ሁኑ። ለሚፈልግ ማንኛውም ሰው የሚኖረን ትርፍ የፊት-መሸፈኛዎች (masks) ቁጥር የተወሰኑ ይሆናሉ።

ዝግጁ ሆናችሁ ተገኙ!

• በጁን (June) ወር ውስጥ፣ ቀድሞ-መገመት የማይቻል ማንኛውም ዓይነት የአየር-ሁኔታ አጋጣሚዎች ሊኖሩ ስለሚችሉ፣ ተማሪዎች እና እንግዶች እራሳቸውን ማዘጋጀት አለባቸው።
• ምናልባት ያልተጠበቀ - ካፊያ/ዝናብ ቢጀምር፤ በእጃችሁ ፖንቾ (poncho) እንዲኖራችሁ ትፈልጉ ይሆናል።
• ምናልባት ከመጠን በላይ የሆነ ሙቀት ካለ ደግሞ፣ የፀሐይ-መነጽሮችን፣ የፀሐይ መከላከያ ክሬም (sunscreen) እና ኮፍያ/ባርኔጣ ሊኖራችሁም ትፈልጉ ይሆናል።

መጥፎ የአየር-ሁኔታ መረጃዎች

• በጁን (June) 12 ቀን ጠዋት፣ መጥፎ የአየር-ሁኔታ ከገጠመን፣ በዝናብ ምክንያት በመዘግየት-የምንጀምረው በ3:30 PM ላይ ይሆናል።
• ነጎድጓድ እና መብረቅ የሚፈጥር ሁኔታ እስካልገጠመን ድረስ፣ ክብረ-በዓሉ እንደሚቀጥል አውቃችሁ፣ እባካችሁን እራሳችሁን አዘጋጁ።
• ማንኛውም መዘግየትን በተመለከተ የሚሰጡ የአስቸኳይ ጊዜ ግንኙነቶች፣ በካንቫስ (Canvas) እና በACPS ድህረ-ገጽ አማካኝነት የሚገለጹ ይሆናል።

• የተማሪውን ስም፣ የትውልድ ቀን እና/ወይም የተማሪ የመታወቂያ ቁጥር (ID)ን በመጠቀም፤ ተማሪውን በአካውንትዎ ውስጥ ያስገቡ። (አንዳንድ ትምህርት ቤቶች እና ዲስትሪክቶች፤ ወይ የተማሪውን የትውልድ ቀን፣ ወይ ደግሞ የተማሪውን የመታወቂያ ቁጥር (ID) ሊጠይቁ ይችላሉ።)

• መረጃዎች፤ በካንቫስ (Canvas) ላይ በቲ. ሲ ትምህርት ቤት ካንውስል የመረጃ-ምንጮች ማዕከል/የሲኒየር (Senior) ተሞክሮ
