Ms. Yvonne Pickett has been with Alexandria City Public School for 29 years. She has been with Matthew Maury Elementary School for 3 years. Ms. Pickett graduated with a Master's degree in School Psychology and with a Specialist Degree in School Psychology from Towson University. She works to find the best solution for each student and situation, using different strategies to address student needs and to improve school and district-wide support systems.

Ms. Pickett provides the following services: advocating for children and families, and collaborating with both school staff and families in developing plans that offer educational supports and/or services necessary for students to be successful in school. These services are provided to students directly through individual or group settings or indirectly through consultative support. In addition, Ms. Pickett provides additional services to assist students in reaching their educational potential which includes prevention, intervention, evaluation, research and planning.

Ms. Pickett has been an ongoing member of the PBIS committee and was a member of the Faculty Council for 1 year at Maury Elementary.  She really enjoys working with a variety of students and is dedicated to improving outcomes for all students.


Ms. Yvonne Pickett is at Matthew Maury Elementary School 3 days a week.
