Mrs. Janelle Freeman, Special Education Teacher

Mrs. Janelle Freeman has been with Naomi L. Brooks Elementary School for four years. She has a master’s degree in special education, bachelor’s degrees in psychology and Spanish, and she is working towards an endorsement in English as a Second Language. Prior to Naomi L. Brooks, Mrs. Freeman worked as a high school special education teacher in Fairfax County and in residential and private special education programs. Mrs. Freeman has worked with students from all grade levels at Naomi L. Brooks. She believes in incorporating technology and working to find new strategies to best help students reach their potential.

Ms. Emily Gergs, Special Education Teacher

Ms. Emily Gergs has been with Naomi L. Brooks Elementary for four years. She has a Master's Degree in Special Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science. Prior to Naomi L. Brooks, Ms. Gergs worked at a private practice as an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapist and Inclusion Assistant at Saint Mary's Private School. In addition, she has completed internships for Loudoun and Fairfax County Public Schools and graduate fieldwork at The Lab School of Washington. While working at Naomi L. Brooks, Ms. Gergs has had the opportunity to work with students from all grade levels. She is passionate about multi-sensory individualized instruction that capitalizes on students' strengths.

Ms. Olivia Hupp, Special Education Teacher

This is Olivia Hupp’s first year at Naomi L. Brooks and she is very excited to join the team! Previously, she taught students with learning disabilities in Milton, Massachusetts and Wilmington, NC. She graduated from UNC Wilmington with a Bachelors in Special Education and East Carolina University with a Masters in Special Education. She works primarily with students in 4th and 5th grade.
