Volunteer at Alexandria City High School
The ACHS Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTSA) offers opportunities for volunteers to assist staff in the College and Career Center, working with students as they navigate the college search and application process under the supervision of Patricia Braun, College, and Career Specialist.
The center is located on the first floor of ACHS, just down the hall from the main office.
The center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, but the busiest hours are 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. during the four lunch periods, and from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. right after school is out.
If you are interested, we ask that you volunteer at least one day a week for at least 2-3 hours during whatever hours suit your schedule. Volunteering during peak times listed above is most helpful, but we will work with you to form a schedule that works for you.
Our goal is to have three or four people each day cover the busy lunch-time slot, and call for even more volunteers during those times when deadlines are near, such as right before SAT or ACT registration deadlines, or right before college application deadlines.
The More the Merrier
Have friends or neighbors who would like to volunteer at the center? Please send them our way. They do not need to have children in the school system to volunteer. All volunteers must complete the volunteer application process before volunteering.
If you have any questions, please contact Linda Woodhouse.
