Brian Orrenmaa, Principal

Brian Orrenmaa, better known to his students as Mr. O, joined George Mason Elementary School as the school principal in 2014 after spending his career as a school administrator and teacher in central Ohio. He is an appointed Commissioner representing ACPS on the Children, Youth and Families Collaborative Commission.   He was named as a 40 Under 40 honoree by the Chamber of Commerce in 2018. 

Mr. O has placed emphasis on strategic planning, professional learning communities, teacher-driven instructional/data coaching and facility improvement. He has concentrated specifically on the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and worked to make progress closing the achievement gap. He has also championed the growth of the school’s award-winning music program. Nearly 100% of  fourth- and fifth-grade student are involved with band or orchestra. In 2018 he formed a partnership with the Alexandria library system using a ConnectEd grant, which resulted in each student getting their very own library card. 

Prior to his experience as a school administrator, Mr. O worked as an elementary and middle school teacher in rural and suburban school divisions. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-8) from Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, and a Master's in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio. He holds a valid teacher, principal, and superintendent license.

Dr. Seazante Oliver, Assistant Principal

Dr. Oliver received her bachelor's and master's degrees from Norfolk State University and her education specialist and doctorate in education degrees from George Washington University.

She is vice president, Junior Board, at the Child and Family Network Volunteers in support of Alexandria communities.

Dr. Oliver began serving the students and communities of Alexandria in the Fall 2012 as the assistant principal at George Mason Elementary School.

During the 2016-17 school year, she served as interim principal at Cora Kelly School for Math, Science, and Technology. She has also served as summer enrichment principal at Patrick Henry Elementary School and Douglas MacArthur Elementary School. Dr. Oliver's experience spans across communities throughout Alexandria.

Prior to joining ACPS, Dr. Oliver served as a teacher, lead teacher, summer program coordinator, assistant principal and principal in the Hampton Roads area.
