    Update 10/29/2017: In January 2017, the School Board approved the implementation of new elementary school boundaries generated through a year-long redistricting process. The new school boundaries will go into effect in September 2018. ACPS is in the process of implementing redistricting and will be contacting those families impacted by the process directly in the next couple of weeks.

    Update 4/4/2017: The redistricting implementation plan will be presented to the School Board on April 6, 2017 and publicized to the ACPS community following that date. See the meeting agenda item.

    Update - 3/3/2017: In January 2017, the Alexandria City School Board voted to approve new elementary school boundaries for Alexandria City Public Schools. Around the same time, the School Board also approved policy changes to establish guidelines for grandfathering, siblings, transportation and programmatic transfers. New boundaries will be implemented in time for the start of the school year in fall 2018.

    Redistricting Overview

    The Alexandria City School Board is currently in the process of redistricting. New boundaries will be implemented in time for the start of the school year in fall 2018. The timeline for community engagement regarding the implementation of the new boundaries will be published on the New Boundary Implementation page. The process will involve significant parent and community input.
