School Board Meeting Information during the COVID-19 School Closure
At this time, in-person School Board Meetings, Work Sessions and Advisory Committee Meetings have been cancelled through April 12, 2020. Some agenda items from cancelled School Board Meetings may be published as Board Briefs.
During the ACPS school closure, the School Board will hold online Special Called Board Meetings each Friday at 12:00 p.m. In accordance with Va. Code § 2.2-3708.2(A)(3), virtual meetings are limited to:
- addressing the public health emergency declared by Governor Northam on March 12, 2020 (Va. Code § 44-146.17); and
- emergency items requiring immediate Board action (Va. Code § 2.2-3701).
Notice of any virtual School Board Meetings will be posted on the ACPS Calendar and agendas will be posted below. An effort will be made to broadcast virtual meetings live, and the minutes and online video recordings for these Special Called Board Meetings will be posted after each meeting on this page and the Watch Meetings page.

Virtual School Board Meetings during the COVID-19 School Closure
School Board Meetings
School Board Meetings are normally held twice a month on Thursdays during the school year in the School Board Meeting Room located at 1340 Braddock Place, Alexandria. Board meetings are televised in Alexandria on ACPS-TV, cable channel 71 and on the ACPS website.
Parking for monthly School Board Meetings is free in the underground parking garage beginning at 6:00 p.m., however, work sessions and other events held at central office are not free. More information about parking availability at 1340 Braddock Place is available on the ACPS website.
Speaking at Board Meetings
Any citizen may address the Board at any regular meeting during "Communications and Addresses to the Board." A reasonable period of time, as determined by the School Board, will be allocated at each regular meeting for citizens to present matters of concern. Individuals will have three minutes to address the Board and heads of organizations will have five minutes provided that the head of the organization is addressing concerns that relate to their organization.
