At Alexandria City Public Schools, we recognize and celebrate the diverse cultures, observances and contributions that make up our vibrant school community. Each month, we highlight important national, cultural and historical observances to foster an inclusive environment where every student, staff member and family feels seen, heard and valued.

First Day of America's Safe Schools Week

America’s Safe Schools Week, observed from October 16-20, 2024, is an initiative by the National School Safety Center to promote safety and security in schools across the nation. This week focuses on the importance of creating safe learning environments and encourages communities to work together to prevent violence and ensure the well-being of students and staff.

First Day of National School Bus Safety Week

Held during the third full week of October each year, National School Bus Safety Week is an active and evolving public education program and an excellent way for parents, students, teachers, motorists, school bus operators, school administrators, and other interested parties - to join forces and address the importance of school bus safety. First Day of Red Ribbon Week

During the week leading up to Oct. 31, schools and organizations across the country host programs and observances to create awareness concerning the problems related to the use of tobacco, alcohol and other drugs; organize community prevention coalitions; and support healthy, productive, drug-free lifestyles.
