3rd Millennium Classroom (Virtual Courses)

Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Evidence-Based Online Courses

ACPS provides substance use prevention and early intervention for schools K-12 through the Department of Student Services & Equity. The Substance Use Prevention services include screenings, assessments, early intervention, targeted case management, and prevention campaigns.

Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Policy at ACPS

The ACPS Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) abuse regulations guidelines mandate that students shall not possess, use, and/or distribute alcohol, tobacco and/or tobacco products, or other drugs on school property, on school buses, or during school activities, on or off school property. Parents and students can consult existing policies and regulations regarding Alcohol and other Drugs (AOD) at the ACPS website. Current AOD policies include JFCF/JFCI, JFCF-R/JFCI-R, GBEC/JFCH/KGC , plus the Standards of Student Conduct and JFC. Students who commit infractions to the AOD regulation are a sign that they need support and education and learn better ways to cope with factors that influence their decisions.  The 3rd Millennium Classroom  is a program from the DDSE SA services that provides online on-demand education to eligible students and parents.

The 3rd Millennium Classroom

The online classroom is a menu of virtual courses offered by ACPS-SA counselors to students presenting with Tier 1 and Tier 2 levels of needs. The Online courses are delivered by the Millennium Classrooms Company. The student (and/or parents) would access an online platform where he/she would be able to enter and complete one or several courses that the SA counselor assigned. Upon completion, the student and parent can print the corresponding certificate of completion.

Nicotine: provides the necessary information and tools for students to make informed decisions and healthy tobacco use choices. Nicotine 101 aims to address the impact of all products containing nicotine including smoking, vaping, dipping, and other nicotine-containing products.

Alcohol: students will learn refusal skills and how to avoid high-risk situations involving alcohol. The course provides relevant alcohol and drug information describing how alcohol has effects on the student’s health, academic success, and social behavior.

Marijuana: students will learn about the facts, risks, and consequences of using cannabis, whether they live in a state that has legalized it or not. Also about the dangers associated with cannabis use to counteract public beliefs that cannabis use is harmless.

Other Drugs: students will learn about the facts, risks, and consequences regarding misuse of prescription drug misuse for opiates, depressants, sedatives, and hallucinogens.

Parents: parents will learn about recognizing  signs, risks, and consequences regarding substance use and how to respond. These courses help parents of teens navigate difficult issues linked to substance use
