School Boundary Redistricting Advisory Committee
Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) is excited to announce the formation of the Redistricting Advisory Committee (RAC)—a vital group that will serve as a link between ACPS and the community throughout the redistricting process. The RAC will play an essential role in ensuring community voices are heard throughout the redistricting process. Committee members will not make final decisions but will serve as ambassadors to their school communities, gathering feedback, sharing updates, and providing input on redistricting plans. This role is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact and help ACPS develop fair and equitable school boundaries.
The redistricting process aims to update school boundaries to better serve our growing and changing community. This effort will help balance student enrollment across the school division, address overutilization and ensure all students have access to equitable resources and opportunities. Through careful analysis and community input, ACPS will work to develop a fair and transparent plan that reflects our diverse community and meets the long-term needs of students and families. This process will strengthen our school system by fostering balanced, inclusive, and supportive learning environments for all students.

Redistricting Advisory Committee Selection Process
To ensure a fair and inclusive selection process, applicants were evaluated based on a scoring rubric. This rubric considered aligned experience, stakeholder classification, and responses to application questions. Final committee selections were made using a random blind process to uphold objectivity. The goal was to form a committee that reflects the diversity of ACPS and the City of Alexandria, providing balanced and inclusive community representation.
