MacArthur New Principal Search
We want to thank you for your continued interest in finding the next principal of Douglas MacArthur Elementary School. This week, the Department of Human Resources posted the position publicly and will be reaching out to ensure we get the best candidates possible. You can review the job posting online.
Please complete a short online survey to help us identify candidates with the best fit for your school.
In January, ACPS will begin the initial screenings based upon characteristics identified through conversations with parents and staff. In February, we will identify the top two to three potential candidates, and conduct background checks and social media checks.
In March, the potential candidates will tour the school and be interviewed by two separate panels. They will also meet the superintendent one-on-one. The final candidate will be approved by the School Board in the spring. We will keep you updated throughout the process.
Principal Search Timeline:
December 2019: Focus group meeting with school staff, PTA, and community members
December 2019/January: Review surveys and develop leadership profile and post for recruitment efforts
February 2020: Begin screen applicationsFebruary/March 2020: Skype interview of top 5-7 candidates and reference check phone callsMarch 2020: Two-panel interviews of top 2-3 candidate; (district conducts deep reference checks including background checks and social media checks)March/April 2020: School tour for top 2 candidates at each school, meet with community members and one-on-one interview with superintendentApril 2020: Prepare recommended candidate packet for board and brief in closed sessionApril/May 2020: Board approval
