January 6, 2020 - Evacuation

T.C. Williams High School Parents and Guardians,

Today at around 2:44 p.m, T.C. Williams High School King Street Campus was evacuated due to smoke on the third floor. The fire department arrived and deemed the building safe for re-entry around 3:04 p.m. All students and staff were safe throughout the process, and dismissal continued as usual at 3:15 p.m.

The smoke was caused by a rooftop supply fan belt that broke. A staff member reported the smoke and an administrator prompted the evacuation from the school.

The rooftop unit has been turned off until repairs can be made by the end of the day on Wednesday this week. We do not anticipate any further issues once the repair is complete.

Student and staff safety is one of our highest priorities. Thank you for your support during this brief evacuation.
